What to write about

Three kinds of mail are especially useful. Corrections come first: if a guide misstates a date, a rule, a name or a custom, say which article and what the source is, and the correction will be checked and made. Suggestions for subjects come second, particularly questions about temple visiting, the festival calendar or practice that the current guides do not answer. Third, practical reports: a broken link, a photo that fails to load, or a page that renders badly on a particular device.

What the magazine cannot do

The Paperbark Journal is a magazine, not a temple. It cannot register anyone for a retreat, a language class or an ordination program, and it cannot answer for the schedule of any real temple. For programs at specific Queensland temples, the communities listed in the temples guide publish their own contact details and should be contacted directly.

Before writing

Questions about etiquette are usually answered by the visiting guide; questions about giving by the dana guide; and questions about the tradition itself by the Theravada overview. If none of them covers it, that is exactly the kind of gap the editors want to hear about.
